For a comparable fee we offer classes to anyone interested, both male and female, all ages. We won't take students younger than three years old. Kaikamahine - (Young ladies age 3 - 13) Meet every Wednesday from 2 - 3 p.m. and Thursdays from 4-5 p.m. Keikikane - (Young men age 3 -13) Meet every Tuesday from 4 - 5 p.m. Nawahine haumana - (Women age 14 - old) Meet every Thursday evening 6:30 - 8 p.m. Nawahine Olapa - (Women show group) Meet every Saturday from 10:30 - 12 Noon. Nakane - (Men 14 - old) Meet every Tuesday evening 6:30 - 8:00 p.m.
Our classes are structured as follows: The first 20 minutes are spent on warm-up
exercises and body strengthening, the next 15 minutes is spent on language
history and song interpretations, after a 5 minute break the remainder of class
time is spent on choreography and costuming. We occasionally dedicate the
entire hour discussing socialogy, history, folklore, genealogy and the like
(sometimes we just sit and talk story).
